Alan 'Shorty' Howe joined the RAAF in Apr 1963 at QLD. He completed his Fabric Worker training at Wagga in 1963, where he then went to 486 before starting the SEW course including life raft and parachute training at 2AD. His first posting from course was to 2AD. His other postings included 481, 478 SQN Malaysia, 38 SQN RIC (70-76), 3 SQN Malaysia (76-78), 77 SQN then SUPCOM. He was promoted to CPL in Feb 1967, SGT in Aug 1969, FSGT in Nov 1976 and to WOFF in Oct 1981 and discharged in Apr 1983 completing 20 years and 3 days.
The picture of the card below was issued to Shorty's on his completion of the V-TEC Contour Fitting Technician Course (used in the HGU 26/P Helmets) conducted at Point Cook in the mid 70's.

Although now retired, Shorty resides at Redland Bay QLD but has keep up a very active life. He can quite often be seen riding his trusty racing bike around the hills of Redland Bay.
